8 Out Of 12 Stadiums To Be Supplied With DAS Solutions Enabling High Capacity Data And Voice Services for “Futebol” fans in Brazil
(19 November 2013, Hong Kong) Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba Telecom” or “the Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, announced it has been named as the official supplier of turnkey wireless network systems at a further four stadiums hosting the 2014 World Cup. Currently, there are 12 stadiums in Brazil hosting the tournament in 2014, and eight of those stadiums will have installed wireless network systems using Comba Telecom’s products and solutions.
With contracts for services and solutions valued at over R$60 million (over US$25 million), Comba Telecom will be installing a series of distributed antenna systems (DAS) using fiber optic RF remote units, antennas, filter and RF conditioning equipment to enable multi-operator, multi-band and multi-technology wireless networks covering both indoor and outdoor environments in and around the stadiums for users of mobile devices on iDEN, 2G, 3G, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi standards. The four new venues include the Arena de Sao Paulo -- host venue of the official opening ceremony, Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Amazon Arena in Manaus and the Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre.
Earlier this year, Comba Telecom had successfully completed the initial project phase in the installation of similar solutions for four other stadiums that hosted the 2013 Confederations Cup and will also host games for the 2014 World Cup. These stadiums are the Mane Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia, Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador, the Stadium Castellao in Fortaleza and the Arena Pernambuco in Recife. Based on the outstanding performance of the solutions implemented by Comba Telecom, the decision was made by the Brazilian mobile operators to name the company as a key supplier of turnkey wireless network solutions for a further four stadiums and install the highest quality and capacity solutions in the transmission of voice and data during the 2014 events.
Mr. Johnny Brito, General Manager for Comba Telecom Brazil said, “We are delighted and honored in the trust placed on us to supply 8 of the 12 world cup stadiums with our solutions. For sure this new achievement is the recognition of the quality of our products and services. Our international experience in the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing with the Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube, allowed the Brazilian mobile operators a firsthand evaluation of our work and the confidence to award us the initial projects for the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup. The subsequent demonstration of our commitment and the proven strength of our turnkey solutions during the Confederations Cup tournament put us in a strong position with the mobile operators and helped us to secure another great result.”
Mr. Patrik Westfalk, Managing Director for Comba Telecom Latin America, added, “Comba Telecom’s 2014 World Cup success along with solutions being implemented for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, firmly positions us as a key supplier of turnkey wireless solutions for major global sporting events. Locally in Brazil, the company is already well prepared to help the operators meet the infrastructure challenges and demands of infrastructure for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.”
