MULTI-SYSTEM, MULTI-FREQUENCY WIRELESS SOLUTIONS
DEPLOYED AT BIRD’S NEST AND WATER CUBE
(2 July 2008 – Hong Kong) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a leading wireless enhancement solutions provider, announced the completion of two major multi-system wireless coverage projects at the Olympic Green in Beijing - a key site of the 2008 Summer Olympics.
The projects included the supply of wireless in-building coverage solutions for both the Beijing National Stadium and Beijing National Aquatics Center, also known as the “Bird's Nest” and the “Water Cube”respectively for its architectural designs. Occupying 258,000 square meters and seating up to 100,000 spectators, the Bird's Nest will host the main track and field competitions as well as the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Adjacent to the Bird’s Nest is the Water Cube which will host the swimming and diving events of the Games. Occupying over 97,000 square meters, the
Water Cube has a capacity of 17,000 seats.
In order to enrich the network coverage within the Olympic venues, Comba designed, implemented and rigorously tested the solutions that encompassed trunking, wireless LAN, 2G and 3G network standards with the deployment of an array of multi-frequency combiners, repeaters and antennas. The end result was a capacity-scalable and optimized solution that provides ubiquitous wireless network availability within the venues.
Comba's Chairman and President, Mr. Tony TL Fok, said, “We are proud to help our clients enhance their network through the successful implementation of the wireless systems at the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube. It is an honor to be part of the national effort to ensure a smooth and effective communications system in readiness for the Olympic Games this summer.”
